Brian Sakamoto is General Counsel at Arixa Capital. He oversees legal and regulatory matters for the firm and is responsible for managing legal risk across the business and its real estate lending products.

Brian has over 20 years of experience as a lawyer in commercial real estate lending transactions and, prior to joining Arixa, was in-house counsel to the real estate debt funds business of PGIM Real Estate, the real estate advisory unit of Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU). At PGIM, he oversaw the legal aspects of capital-raising and product development for real estate debt assets and supervised all legal aspects of PGIM’s bridge and renovation loan originations platform. Prior to PGIM, Brian practiced law in the real estate group of the international law firm Orrick in San Francisco and Tokyo, primarily advising financial institutions and private funds in a wide range of real estate transactions.

Brian received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC in 1999. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Claremont McKenna College in 1996. Brian has chaired multiple real estate-focused committees for the American Bar Association over the past several years.
